Five foiled Christmas cards today! The technique is not new but it’s the best for Christmas cards. All that shine makes your cards so festive. So I grabbed my foil sheets, my good old laminator and I printed out a few designs in black and out.
All the designs were printed by Sroryblocks . I printed all my designs to thin cardstock using my laser printer. Then I applied the foil on top and run it through my laminator. I used different colors of foil in different designs for a variety of cards. I demonstrate in the video all the steps.
Here is what I came up with:
Golden reindeer card
This is such an elegant card! I embellished my card with gold sequins. The die cut sentiment is from LOVE & JOY Dies set by Penny Black ( SSS ). And isn’t that card base stunning?! This is a Tonic HARVEST GOLD Mirror Gloss Cardstock ( SSS | SBC ).
Here is a close up look on that gold foil detail
Golden Star card
Here is another card using the same idea as above. To embellish the panel this time I attached an eyelet and threaded through a golden string. I tied a little bow and added my sentiment. The sentiment again comes from the same die set as the first card.
Red ornament card
This is my favorite of them all just because of the sentiment. This is the FA LA LA Wafer Die by SSS . For my cardbase I used another great cardstock by Tonic Studios. It’s the Tonic SCARLET ORGANZA Mirror Cardstock ( SSS | SBC | CST ). This is not a mirror cardstock, it has a lovely satin finish and I think it’s a must for your Christmas cardmaking. What I love about these cardstocks by Tonic Studios is that they are white on the back, which makes it the perfect card inside for writting your messages.
Green Christmas tree card
The last two cards are very simple. All I did after applying the green foil was to stick it on top of a green card base. The sentiment was printed out along with the tree design so it was also foiled in one go through the laminator.
Pink Merry Christmas
And here is a pink Christmas card, in no traditional colors but really shiny in real life. The design is so pretty and you can just print and color it with your favorite medium. I went with foiling for today and I used a matching mirror cardstock as the base Tonic ROSE PLATINUM Mirror Card Gloss Cardstock ( SSS | SBC )
