Hi! Today I am playing with alcohol inks on vellum. It’s a great way to create vibrant backgrounds that make stunning cards. I am also going to demonstrate the lift technique where you stamp with lift ink to add even more visual texture.

close-up photos
Alcohol inks on vellum create gorgeous abstract backgrounds and you really don’t need to do a lot. Just adding a sentiment on top is fine. In the examples below I made sure all the focal points were small since I didn’t want to cover much of the background. I also colored my images using colors that were on the background. It’s just a little trick to make sure that they are not going to stand out too much and steal the thunder on the backgrounds.

Would you like even more inspiration using alcohol inks? Here is an older video for you!
Hi. Such great cards! What a fun technique.
Where is the happy birthday die from that you used on the turtle card? I really like the font. Thank you.
Oh sorry I forgot to link that. It’s a die by mftstamps called “HANGING HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIGN”
Thanks for this great video! I had forgotten about the alcohol inks working on vellum. Vellum always scares me because it is difficult to figure out how to attach it but I love the idea of the double-sided tape IF I can get it on straight on the first try – ha! You are an inspiration and I have appreciated you for many years.
It’s amazing the designs and patterns you get from working with alcohol inks. You have so many options with the ink since you can use them with dies, stamps and as a background. Love the cards and video. Thank you Vicky.
Such great cards!! I love the bear holding the flower and the background for it! Thanks for the reminder to use velum with alcohol inks. I’ve done it before but it’s been a long time and to be honest I forgot!! There’s a fun stamp set I have with frogs doing yoga that would be perfect to use for this technique!! Thank you so very much for the inspiration! Enjoy the day.
These are Adorable!!! I love this idea!!
I just started dabbling in alcohol inks. I’m so glad I watched your video. I didn’t know there was a alcohol lift ink pad out there. I have to get one! I really love the effect you got using that on your background stamps. You’re cards are very cool!!
Gorgeous and sweet cards Vicky.
I totally love the alcohol ink backgrounds, great video turorial as well.
Never thought of using vellum with alcohol ink.
Thank you so much for sharing, stay safe and have a wonderful day.
These are really wonderful cards! I adore both the bear that is clutching the flower as well as the setting that it is on. We appreciate you bringing to our attention the fact that velum can be used with alcohol inks. I have experience with it, but it has been a very long time, and to tell you the truth, I have forgotten!
