vintage art journal ephemera

Time for a new art journal and today I am playing with ephemera! Finally my order of the new idea-ology collection arrived. I don’t know why but after the pandemic the mail is super slow, it took my order more than 2 months to arrive!? So I was finally able to play with my new goodies.

I share lots of tips and tricks on how to cluster ephemeras and how to bring everything together. Keep in mind you can definetly use ephemera that you already have in your stash to create something similar!

close-up photos

Here are some close-up photos where you can see all the details better!

For the background I used distress oxide ink, some stenciling, a bit of splatters and lots of stamping!

All the ephemera as well as the frame and boys are from the latest idea-ology collection (link below the photos).

Creating clusters by layering ephemera is so much fun. Just make sure to alternate colors and shapes (rectangles, circles, squares) so they stand against each other.

  1. Oh my heavens! This page is delightful. You make everything look so easy, and your pages always look so good. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your creative process. Well done Vicky!

  2. Howdy from Tucson, Arizona (USA)! What a fun page!! Thank you so much for the tips on layering ephemera. Just remembering to put the larger pieces in the background should be helpful to me. I have some of the windows but haven’t committed them to a project yet (am playing with one on a particular project). What a great idea to turn the window sideways and put the boys on it. Love the look! Yes, during COVID the mail in the U.S. slowed down a lot (for a few reasons) and some of Tim’s products in particular were having a hard time getting into the U.S. (from China) due to a backlog at the ports in California. It was really bad here for quite a while. More recently, however, things seem to be getting a bit better so hopefully it will get a bit better for overseas shipping — at least from this end — and continue to get better as we trudge through the mess the pandemic created. Thank you so much, Vicky! Enjoy the rest of the week.

  3. Howdy from Tucson, Arizona (USA)! What a fun page for today!! I really like how you turned the window sideways and put the boys on it. Great idea! Thank you, Vicky, for so many tips on layering ephemera — especially putting larger pieces down first and at the back. Appreciate the tips as well as the video! Enjoy the rest of your week!

  4. The journal page came out so good. Everything you added to that page went so well together! I’m from California and I’ve been following you for quite a few years. Thank you for all the inspiration and your videos.

  5. Totally love this page Vicky. I have ephemera but hardly used it, the way you used it here, in a diagonal, is awesome. I can see myself using it in this way.
Thank you so much for this great inspirational tutorial, stay safe and from a sunny Netherlands I wish you a wonderful day.
