Happy sunday everyone and thanks for visiting today!

Today I am sharing two cards in one video! I was inspired by this month’s sketch by Hero Arts and I wanted to share with you my ideas. This is the sketch I am working with:

So instead of the obvious (using paper strips or ribbon) I am making two cards thinking outside of the box. Hope you’ll get inspired and have fun!

CARD #1 – “Hello”

In this card I am using the kites instead of those strips in the sketch and the cloud on top to write the sentiment. Fun!

Everything was colored with distress inks and markers. The sentiment comes from an old but very much loved little stamp set by Hero Arts called “Love that”. Check out links to supplies below the video at the end of this post.

CARD #2 – “You are my happy”

On this second card I rotated the sketch upside down and I use the butterfly trails instead of the paper strips.

This card actually came together super fast. Here is a closer look:

Here is a photo of both the cards next to the sketch

You can enjoy the video here or at my YouTube channel in HD.

I had a couple more ideas thinking outside of the box but this would make my video 20 minutes long at least. If you liked this sketch-video combination let me know and maybe I can come up with another video 😉

Don’t forget to play along on my G I V E A WA Y here.

Enjoy the day!

  1. Yay! TWO videos! Of course I like that, I’m looking forward to every Sunday! The kite card is my favourite, love the summer feeling of that card! Happy Sunday!

  2. These are both SUCH beautiful cards, but the second one is my favourite. those butterflies against the kraft cardstock?! PERFECTION!

Thanks for YET another amazing video!!

    L xx

  3. Vicky, I am in awe at how you came up with these beautiful cards! You really are so very clever and creative! I need to learn to think outside the box more!

  4. Great video, Vicky! I just saw the kite card on Flickr and love it! Your second card is so clever and fun too! Wonderful butterflies – love the way you added the trails! 🙂

  5. I love both of these!!! Wonderful cards. I love when I’m drinking my morning coffee on Sunday and get to see a video from Clips-n-Cuts! It starts my Sunday out just right!

  6. Love them both. But what I love most is your interpretation of the sketch. I tend to be very literal and need to be reminded to think outside the box. Thanks!

  7. Wow two great cards and your fantastic music.. How much happier can one get.

I love the playlike effect of what you’ve done. These two cards are free and whimsical I love cards like this but have a hard time doing them. I will watch a couple of more times and maybe it will pound into my bean. LOL

  8. I totally love your take on the sketch. Awesome cards and I especially love the 2nd one. Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. Vicky, i love your videos!
I’m starting now in scrapbooking. And I’m loving it! (and making many cards).
Your videos are an inspiration! The cards are beautiful and you are very creative – I saw your entire site!
We are here waiting for the next post.

  10. Sorry that I am late in commenting! I adore the clean lines and balance you have for these designs! Brilliant, my friend!
