Hi crafty friends! Today I have a really fun gate fold card. I am going to show you how easy it is to create and I am also sharing a tip on keeping those gates nicely closed.
To create a gate fold card you need a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock for your card base. On it’s short side score at 2 1/8 from both edges. You will see me demonstrate this in the video below.
All my focal points are die cuts and it was really easy to put together everything. The dies I used are by the Buildables collection from Tonic Studios. I combined “Percy Penguin and Stan Snowman” ( SBC | CST | TNC ) and “Festive Signpost” ( SBC | CST ).
The dies are just adorable and give you so many option to mix and match them, to create your own characters wearing and holding different things!
I love the festive sign post die set, with all the options to customize it. Plus these dies work as stencils too, to add those details that take your focal points into the next level, like the wood grain texture.
When the cardstock is too thick those gate folds have a mind of their own and like to stay open. To make sure that those flaps will stay nicely in place when the card is closed I used magnetic discs ( SSS ). They really make a big difference especially if you like to use heavy 120lb cardstock for your cardbases.

This is just gorgeous Vicky!!!
What a great set. I really love this card. There need to be more tri-fold cards in the world.. hehe Thanks so much for sharing. This was great, and yes, I’d love to see a pros and cons video on your guillotine. I was considering getting one, at some point. The one I have now is too small, and doesn’t cut through all that well.
Thanks again! ???
wonderful card!
I love it, Vicky! I can’t wait to try a gatefold! Thanks for always inspiring!
Fun card and, as always, great video. Hoping for an art journal page soon.
I’ve already made some cards inspired by cards you created from the kit yesterday, using paper from my stash.
What a fun card! You packed in lots of great tips. Thanks for sharing.
That is an adorable card. Thanks for another fun video.
Love the card, I notice were you listed the products you use and were to get the magnets. Which is great because I really want to try it I picked up a few of the other characters like mr. and mrs. Clause. They are both so adorable. I just need to go back and see if the sign is still in stock. My luck they are always out. Thank you for the inspiration
I really like this card, Vicky. It’s always nice to have a way to create a card that is not a top fold or side fold card. The glitter paper you created is stunning. Thanks for the inspiration..
Vicky, I love this card…it’s details are stunning…not too childish…but so perfect for the season. Thanks.
Adorable! I love it!
