After a week’s break I am back to blogging. I had an amazing time in Phoenix while visiting Creativation 2018. It’s not only the products that you get to see first, or the demos and the wonderful companies! It’s mostly the people! So great to hug old friends and make new ones… totally worth the endless traveling.
Today I am sharing an art journal! A lovely flower arrangement with butterflies using lot’s of mixed media techniques. I worked on my Dylusions art journal.
I did all the coloring with distress oxide inks with lot’s of different techniques to apply the color. Including blending tools, blending brushes and the infamous “smoosh the ink of your table” technique! Lot’s of fun and dirty fingers!
For my focal points I used Sizzix dies, the Apothecary bottles, the mini butterflies and the Wildflowers 2.
When I make my art journals I can easily spend most of my time on the background rather than the focal points. I love building layers upon layers, using many techniques and playing with different products such as stencils and the new distress resist spray.
The shine and texture that you see in the photo below is the awesome result by spraying a couple of times with the new resist spray. So quick and easy to do and with great impact on your project.

Hi
Happy you made it home.Wow 2 days to get home ugh.
I don’t know how you can contain yourself at those shows. It’s like being a kid in a candy store. Of all the people that I would love to meet would be you and Tim in person. Short list lol Can anyone attend CHA?
Now for the layout you’re so lucky to have Tim’s new stuff already. I always enjoy the layouts you make. Excited that you will be showing more this year. YAY!!!!
This is SO lovely, I just had to let you know. :o)
I enjoyed it so very much and yes I want to see more of these gorgeous and stunning Art Journal pages. Thanks. Glad you are save home after that very long journey.

So happy to see a new art journal page – what an ordeal getting home but so many new products to think about on your journey. Happy crafting!!
An awesome art journal page that is so pretty! Brilliant video too, thank you. xxx
Absolutely love this……….so nice to see the video and see how you did it. Were your pages prepared with gesso first or not? Your trip home was definitely long……..glad you made it home safely.
Beautiful, as always!!
its so grgeous!
Clearly, I am not very talented as I rely on folks like you for ideas. For some unknown reason, it never occured to me to use Oxides on a page layout… How pathetic is THAT? LOL
Beautifully done as always Vicky and I am glad that you finally arrived home safe and sound, 2 days is a long time to get home.
I just love your art journal pages. You inspire me!
Gorgeous layout! I love the colours. Very earthy and calm. Can’t wait to see more of these!
I love your video. Your layout is amazing. Thank you for all the great tips.
Oh I did wonder if you were going to Creativation! Love the new Resist Spray! Thanks for the super demo on how to use it to great effect! Beautiful journal page. =)
Glad you had such a good time in our corner of the world! (I live in Tucson … just south of Phoenix.) Sorry I couldn’t make it there to meet you in person and to thank you for your videos and blog posts. I really appreciate your video. I’m working on a mixed media project with the focal point being a photo of my Great Grandfather, which I recently received. This is new to me, but after watching all your videos (and some others) I decided to give it a try. I had a really hard time with the background, but finally got something I can live with. Making some elements for it (FUN!) and getting ready to put it all together. Will send you a photo when it’s done. I would work on it, get stuck, go back and watch one or 2 of your videos and then go try again …. I was really glad to have your videos to refer back to and encourage me to just keep playing with it. Learning as I go!!!! Look forward to trying to make some mixed media cards too! Thank you, Vicky.
You inspire me, I am going to try and do a journal page each month
I love watching you work in your art journal. I have done a few pages and really enjoyed the process and hope to do more. Thank you for all your inspiration.

Vicky, you are so talented! I love your journal pages! I really enjoy all your creations. Your art brings joy to my life, and inspiration. Thank you so much! Sorry to hear it took so long for you to get home! Those overseas flights can get so tiresome! But I’m glad you had such a good time in Phoenix!
Awesome art journal pages! I am intrigued with the Tim Holtz Distress Resist Spray!
Love it, as always.. 🙂
I am still struggling about the potential of the oxyde but I will give it a try 🙂
Beautiful journal page. I only own 5 oxide pads, but I really like them. I own nearly all the Distress pads, so it’s hard to justify more ink. Per your recom several months ago, I bought the Nuvo Deluxe adhesive. I love it! It never clogs and dries quickly.
Hi Vicky, excellent project with gorgeous colors and perfect supplies.
Love every one of your videos, and I can’t seem to get enough of them – I discovered you only recently! So glad there will be more coming in 2018. I especially enjoy the ones where you use the Faber-Castell India ink brush pens so hope you can do more of those in the near future. Thanks for the many excellent tutorials!
Another totally awesome art journal layout for us to drool over!! Love the botttle and flowers, and great sentiment. Love watching you create…..gives my inspiration because you are relaxed and don’t get upset if it’s not perfect! Thanks again so much for sharing your creativity with us here, Vicky!
So glad you made it home safe and sound! Followed you on Instagram so it was neat to see and felt I was on a trip as well ?. Another beautiful layout and fun techniques. Quick question, how did you get the colours on the brushes to differentiate?? Are those rings? Did you colour them or do they come in different colours? Thanks for replying 🙂
