Yesterday was the reveal day of the April Card kit by SimonSaysStamp. And once again the kit is packed with goodness in a lovely color combo. Smells like spring with all those rainbow colors! It’s definitely a kit for building up your stash with a big versatile stamp set, a stencil a couple of distress oxide ink pads and even a new distress brush!
I made 10 cards to inspire you, trying to use supplies only from the kit and basic tools/dies from my stash. Come along with me as I share my 10 cards and make sure to join the GIVEAWAY!
card 1
A lovely card that screams spring! All I did was to stamps color and cut out the images. Then popped them on my window card.
card 2
For this card I stamped my butterflies on one of the patterned papers and cut them all out. Really easy to make just take your time to cut out the butterflies neatly.
card 3
The design on some of the butterflies really remind me of stained glass. So I totally emraced this look for this card. I used my color pencils and did no shading at all. Just using a different color on each of the areas. The butterfly is also embossed and it really gives that look and feel that I was going for.
card 4
A lovely card using one of my favorite combos, yellows, oranges and blues. I used the two distress oxide inks included in the kit for this one.
card 5
The stencil gives you so much versatility and can be used in so many different ways. Here I used my distress oxide inks in a rainbow color order but you can use any inks that you have for similar look.
card 6
For this card I used the stencil again and if you notice two of the butterflies can be overlapped. So inking one of them gives you a solid image and the other gives you the details. For the details I used my glimmer paste. It’s the best way to introduce glitter in your card without the mess!
card 7
Here is water colored card, and a very artistic looking one! I was going for that messy look and I used my Nuvo Aqua flow pens to color everything, Fun fact! That’s the only card out of the 10 that does not feature a butterfly!

Now this is my favorite from the whole bunch! A stained glass look in an acetate window. Check the video on how easy it is to make it!

The stencil is so versatile and you can make endless combinations… here I used silver glimmer paste over the butterflies with those lovely details.
card 10
And here is the last card for today. I used my texture paste for this one and you can take it a step further if you apply glitter on top before the paste dries. One of my favorites too for sure!

Each and every one of these cards is stunning! I often make a “series” of similar cards to give as a gift and this kit would be perfect for that purpose. Using modeling pastes on the stencil makes for a quick but very elegant card. Thank you for the inspiration!

Yikes, I’m so bad at decisions. I love how you used the stencil so much; so often people look at it as an afterthought, but I love all the great things you were able to do with it. So I feel like I ought to pick a stencil card, but I think I’ll go with #3, just because I really like how much it feels like stained glass. #8 was in the running for the same reason, but I think I like the more vibrant colors better. I really like number 8 as so many others, apparently, but I think I will vote for card no 2, actually. Because you really surprised me with the simplicity and the creativity with that card! To use the pattern paper for the butterflies, and then add the same paper at the side of the panel was really ingenious and gave me new ideas! Thanks! 😀

Love all the cards but I think # 10 is my favourite with #7 a close second. I love that these cards are all so “do-able”. The stamps set is so beautiful that along with the paper and some nice bright colours, you don’t need a whole bunch of other things to make really lovely cards.

As I watched your video I was so sad that I had missed out on the card kit when it came out. Unfortunately, I was to sick with the flu to check my email when the released happened. Oh ! Well thank you for giving me the possible chance to win this beautiful kit. Like you said it is a great stash builder. As to your question if I had to pick a favorite card it would be card number 8 the stain glass butterfly, I ‘ve never though of doing such a beautiful technique with my stamps. Okay, I really am having a hard time picking a favorite. I like them for a variety of reasons, but I will say the acetate butterfly because it really brings out the design of the butterfly. I love that look, and it really opens up so many possiblilities for coloring. (The colored pencil version also brings it out!) I think this is one of their best card kits I have seen, and I am sorely tempted! Thank you so much.

It is really difficult to choose a favorite, but I am going to be duplicating card #2 as my favorite. I haven’t really gotten the hang of blending the oxide inks yet and I feel the same way about my coloring, lol…so your idea is fantastic to use the pattern paper to stamp and fussy cut the butterflies. That I can totally handle! Thank you for your creative ideas, I just recently found you on YouTube and I am loving binge watching your videos.

The rainbow butterflies with the rainbow strip of paper on the left side is my favorite. So hard to chose just one. Loved your technique of sprinkling glitter over the paste but the butterfly on the acetate window was my favorite. Loved the reflection of the colors on the back of the card. Just beautiful.
