Welcome back to another Mixed Media Tuesday! Today, I’m diving into a super fun project: creating and decorating a vintage-inspired junk journal booklet. Using an ephemera pack with a variety of paper sizes and designs, I’ve put together a unique little journal that’s perfect for art journaling, memory keeping, or even as a travel diary.

For the cover, I kept things relatively flat to ensure the journal remains easy to work in.
I started by scoring and folding various vintage-themed papers – think dictionary pages, maps, and old newspapers – to create a layered, textured booklet. Because these pages are nice and thick, they handle wet mediums like sprays and acrylic paints beautifully. After binding them with a simple three-holestitch and a waxed thread, I added a practical elastic closure using my Crop-A-Dile to keep everything secure as the journal grows.
Here is a look on the first two pages
Inside, I explored two different page styles. On the first page, I created a functional pocket using a tag from the ephemera pack, perfect for tucking in extra bits and pieces.
On the second page, I played with white acrylic paint, rub-ons, and laser-cut elements.
I even created a “slit” in a suitcase cutout to tuck in various travel-themed ephemera, creating a whimsical focal point.
