gate fold window cards

Creating gate fold window cards is easy and makes a big impact! Those windows provide the perfect space to add your focal points either they are images or sentiments. Today I am sharing 3 cards using two different methods to create gate fold window cards. A very easy and a more complicated one that looks gorgeous. Time to look through your dies for all those shapes you have to create little windows! I went with a heart, a circle and a rectangle.

For all my cards today I used stamp from the latest release by Ginak Designs. This card features the lovely birds from the
All You Need is Love ( GNK | SSS ). That’s a small adorable stamp set, really inexpensive that is a great add on to you stash! To keep my cards closed I created paper bands using border dies. Any border dies you have would work, the ones I used are from the Stampendous die set
– Spring Borders( SBC )

Look how awesome this card looks when it’s open with the two heart windows on each gate flap! At the front of the gates I stamped some hearts with Versamark ink ( SSS | SBC ) using the Scattered Hearts Background Cling Stamp ( SSS | MFT ) and applied on top
Perfect Pearl Powder ( SSS ). This adds a touch of interest at the front of the card but it’s still subtle. gate fold window card

For the second card I used another image from the same stamp set … pretty much the same card design with small differences such as the circle window and the stenciled front. This gate fold window card is simpler to make, does not use too much cardstock but it doesn’t end up having two accordion gates.

Finally for my last card inside the window I stamped the sentiment instead of an image. But when you open up the card you can see all those lovely stamped flowers.

  1. These are all so sweet Vicky. I love your technique for die cutting the windows, I will definitely be doing it this way going forward. TFS!

  2. You must have read my mind (uh-oh!!!!)!! I was looking around today for a different idea to form a card base. Then … “pop”! Incoming email from you with this video!!! Thank you, Vicky!

  3. Love the cards! I’m new the perfect pearls, my question is did you have to heat set the perfect pearls or does it just stay ?

  4. Hi Vicky! Thanks for sharing a few ways to do gate folding cards, very helpful and informative, thanks! I enjoyed watching your interview. It’s so nice everyone gets a little bit of a glimpse into the mind of a favored artist. My favorite anyhow! And most of the questions asked, I already knew about you (from watching ALL of your videos) except where you were born. Thanks for sharing! 😉

  5. Love the cards, very pretty. Thank you for sharing this technic. I have a question regarding glue. I do not see crafters using Elmer’s glue at all. I am not sure if this glue is okay to use on cards, I have a lot because of my daughter when she was in school and use to use it for school projects. Please let me know. Thank you
