Hi! Today I am back with another art journal page for my disc bound journal. It’s one of the pages for my “a year in flowers” project where I create a flower page for each letter of the alphabet. So today it’s P and here are my lovely poppies

The disc bound journal I am working on is 6×6 and you get get it pre-made or watch a video on how to do it yourself here. Such disc bound journals are really easy to use since you can take the pages off and put them back again when you finish working on them. They come in various sizes and shapes.
For my art journal background I had some fun with my gel plate. I used my new Arteza acrylic paints to see how they work on it and I was so pleased with the results! I used “naples yellow” and “pearl copper gold” for the background. For the poppies I used “brilliant red” and the leaves and stems is a combination of “chromium oxide green” and “mars brown”.
The poppies are from the Build A Flower – Poppy stamp set by Altenew. For their build a flower collection they release a new stamp set on the 1st of every month and just for today they have a 20% sale on them. Check below for links.
The stamp set includes not only the outline of the flowers and leaves but also stamps for layering. I usually do all the shading in my art journal pages with my big brush markers but since I had the convenience of these stamp layers I took the easy road. It also includes matching dies which are a great time saver. In my case I didn’t want to have that outside border so I cut out everything with my good old scissors.

So pretty! The flowers are beautiful and look real 🙂
That is one really great art journal page!!!! Lots of tips and techniques in the video, which I really appreciate, and I love poppies! I recently bought a gel plate and LOVE it. The first thing I learned was not to put too much medium down. Guess how I learned that?!!! Yup. Alcohol ink oozing everywhere!!!! Thanks for the reminder and tips on using it. I too find fussing cutting relaxing. Those Artez paints are beautiful — especially the copper pearl. It never occurred to me to try stamping over acrylic paint!! It works well!! Thank you so much for this great video and for sharing your beautiful art journal page!
Wow – Vicky so beautiful as usual.
I love watching you create your beautiful art journal pages.
Absolutely Gorgeous!
I’ve never used a gel plate, but I love the idea of stamping poppies on a painted surface. For some reason I have a hard time coloring poppies and getting the shading right.
Beautiful journal page. Love it. Thank you for sharing all your tips.
Your art make me so happy ? i love your YouTube ? love from norway ?
A fantastic art journal page Vicky, another great one for the book!
Another beautiful page! I so enjoy these videos, Vicky.
What an absolutely gorgeous layout. I love that you used the gelli plate for this layout, I just recently started using mine and am loving it. This gives me so much inspiration for more ways to use it. I have learned so much from you, thank you so much!
A stunning Art Journal page Vicky. I love the way you made the background, those Arteza paints look very smooth and opaque.
Thank you for showing your stunning art work.
