close-up photos

I have an alphabet flower art journal where I add a new page every now and then. The goal is to have a finished journal with one flower page for every letter of the alphabet. The Paint-A-Flower and Build-A-Flower monthly collections are perfect for this year round project so I keep using these sets and hope I will have a set for every letter!

Here are some close-up photos of the project that I made for today! Check the video above for a step by step tutorial on how I put together my layout.

For the background I used Altenew shimmer sprays and although it’s hard to catch on the photos, it’s shinny and gorgeous in real life.

The layers that you stamp one on top of the other to put the flower together really makes it dimensional but I also added some black sketchy lines with my marker and some white highlights. Details like that bring the whole project together.

For extra visual texture I used a stencil and sprays over it as well as stamping and splashing on the background.

I also added washi tape strips that always bring something extra on a page and I combines different colors and designs to make it more interesting.

On all my pages I add the name of the flower with the first letter big and bold, to make a statement. This is an alphabet art journal after all!
