Welcome to another mixed media Tuesday. Today I am sharing an easy recipe for beginners to create similar art journal pages. Wanna try it?! First of all work on a page from my ring journal, it is perfect for these techniques, the size isn’t too large to overwhelm you plus there is already something sabtle printed in each page to get you started.
7 steps recipe
- use 2 colors of dye inks and blend them at the background
- add splatters
- use a stencil (with paste or blend ink)
- background stamping
- create focal point by combining ephemera, rub-ons, cut outs
- add highlights and white splashes
- add your quote
You can enjoy the video below or at my YouTube channel
For today’s layout I tried to combine as many products from my new collection as I could. The collection is “Create Happiness 2” and includes stamps, stencils, ephemera, rub-ons and even acrylic paints.
I also made sure to use my dye inks for tons of techniques and you can see them used in this layout for adding color to the background, to creating splashes, to stamping, to creating borders even for stencling.
The ephemeta pack comes packed with flowers, leaves, butterflies, keys and even bigger elements that make the perfect focal points. Keep in mind that they work great for cards or scrapbooking too!
I also did lot’s of stamping not only to create some visual texture on the background but also to create one of my focal points, the film strip.
Below you can find a list of all the products used today. Links to multiple online shops are available, just click the logo below each item. Affiliate links used where possible at no extra cost to you.
The new collection is available to PREORDER in shops below, but soon it will be available in your favorite shops worldwide!
I was afraid of mixed media, but watching your video, you make it look easy, and FUN! I love the page you created on your video. I think I’m going to give it a go! You are so talented! ❤️
Wow, b ut I love this journal page. Everything about it is so much fun. The colors that you used are wonderful. And the theme…well, it makes me long to go somewhere!!!
Wish I could meet you in Dallas. Have fun while you are there and eat some great barbecue!
I just LOVE your creativity and products! Even though my limited budget really doesn’t allow me to spend too much, I can never resist products that you use in your art journals! I have already pre-ordered some of these products and am anxiously awaiting delivery. Thanks for this, and all of your art journal videos. Another exquisite page that I just may have to replicate in my stone journal.
Just love this! Your “signature” style is always beautiful.
Another great page and I so appreciate you sharing your “formula”. It’s such a great way to take some of the intimidation out of the process — especially for beginners! Just follow some easy, basic steps!! Looking forward to ordering some of the new products you’ve designed and to playing with them. Been really enjoying dipping my toe into art journaling after so many years of watching you do it and admiring your outcomes. I too hope you have a great time in Dallas — and in Canada! You’re certainly a busy woman!!! Wish I could meet you while you’re on this side of the “pond”, but … hopefully one day. Safe travels, happy trails to you (an old cowboy song) and have a wonderful time!
Love love love! Already preordered this collection and hope it arrives soon. Both of your releases make gorgeous layouts, and I hope you have more in store! Safe travels, prepare for heat and rain. You will have an awesome time !
