In today’s tutorial, I’m transforming a clipboard into a beautiful mixed media decorative piece. Using products from my brand-new Dewdrops collection, I’ve brought together soft pastel blues, pinks, and winter-inspired designs to craft this unique piece. Perfect as a decorative item or a creative gift idea, this altered clipboard combines techniques like stenciling, layering, and dimensional embellishments.

For thenackground I used rice paper and I added some interest by using volume paste over a snowflakes stencil
All the elements such as the bird, branch, birdhouse etc are cut outs from the Dewdrops collection.
Using a string to hang the birdhouse adds an extra element of texture and along with the ribbons at the top make the project even more interesting.

The soft pastel colors work beautifully with the winter theme. I especially like how the rice paper, dimensional paste, ribbons, and hanging birdhouse create different layers of texture without making the clipboard feel overcrowded. Thank you for showing the details in the video.
I enjoyed the angle on today tutorial transforming clipboard beautiful mixed. The post has a nice balance of explanation and practical detail, which makes it easier to remember the main point after reading rather than just skimming past it.
Gorgeous project! I love how the soft pastel colors complement the winter theme. The layered textures, snowflake stencil, ribbons, and hanging birdhouse make the altered clipboard feel especially charming and dimensional. Thank you for sharing the tutorial!
The rice paper base and volume-paste snowflake stencil give the clipboard a subtle winter texture without overwhelming the pastel blues and pinks. I especially like how the hanging birdhouse and ribbons add depth to the composition. The close-up photos make it easier to understand the layering sequence.

The volume paste through the snowflake stencil gives the background just enough relief to keep the rice paper from reading as a flat layer. I also like the balance between the soft pastel palette and the tactile details: the hanging birdhouse string and ribbons introduce movement without competing with the bird and branch focal point. Sealing the clipboard edges in a coordinating blue is a thoughtful finish that makes the altered object feel complete from every angle.
Using volume paste over a snowflake stencil on rice paper is such a clever way to build texture without adding much weight to a clipboard. I’m curious whether the paste holds its dimension well once the piece is handled regularly, or if it needs a sealant to prevent flaking. Also, hanging the birdhouse with string is a nice touch, since it adds movement and shadow that flat embellishments can’t achieve.
The bird, branch, and hanging birdhouse create a clear diagonal path for the eye, which keeps all the small embellishments from feeling scattered. I also like the restraint in the background: a thin layer of volume paste through the snowflake stencil adds relief while still letting the rice paper show. For a functional clipboard, sealing only the exposed edges and high-contact areas would protect the surface without flattening the dimensional details.
