Welcome back to Mixed Media Tuesday, where today we are turning patterned papers into a mini ring-bound art journal while exploring three fun ways to build balanced, dimensional compositions!

close-up photos

Page 1: For the first page, I built a delicate focal cluster featuring a vibrant yellow butterfly and layered tickets over a subtle background accented with stamping, Speckled Egg ink, and rub-ons.

Page 2: On the second page, I softened a background using flat spatula strokes of white paint, setting the stage for a dimensional framed floral bouquet.

Page 3: For the final page, I worked with a busier scene, toning down sections with paint. A statement door embellishment framed by a rub-on transferred onto fabric ribbon.

  1. I totally relate to your point about balancing elements in compositions! I remember trying to find that harmony while playing Granny 2. How do you think game design influences our sense of balance?
