art by marlene art journal

Hi! Today I am back with an art journal flip through. It’s a mini journal I created that I posted on instagram and I got a lot of comments for a flip through.

30 pages in total!!! I used the new mini Art Journal by Art by Marlene that is just 4″x 4″ . Great project for beginners in mixed media.
It was super easy to make all they pages, not messy at all and not time consuming. It takes just a few minutes to put each page together and after the flip through in the video I share how I made it.

  1. First, I must say that I really love the quotes. Each one is something I needed to hear and would be great for an art journal page. When I began to venture into the world of mixed media, I took your advice and started on a small journal. It wasn’t long before I was looking to go bigger with the ideas I had. It really was great advice and working on something smaller felt less intimidating. Today it’s good to be reminded that I don’t have to still go big — smaller is just as great! It might be good to get the smaller journal back out and play a bit. Maybe with sprays?!!!!! What a fun video! I very much enjoyed seeing your mini journal and being reminded that going back to basics is just as much fun as trying something new. Thank you, Vicky, for sharing the journal … and have a great, sunny, spring day all the way over there in Greece!!

  2. Vicky, I enjoy your videos SO much. They are colorful, informative and do-able by a novice. But most of all I enjoy your light hearted approach and the emphasis on just making art and not worrying about being prefect.
    Thank you!

  3. Terrific tips on getting started in art journaling! With card making, we send off our projects, never to be seen again. But with art journals, we can keep our treasures for ourselves! Love Marlene’s colorful papers and images. So bold and bright. The quotes are fun as well. Maybe, just maybe, I will give this a try. Thank you for the great ideas!

  4. I love these happy images and quotes. I have been using one of my journals to attach card fronts I’ve made and can’t part with. So instead, I paste them in my journal (sometimes with notes on technique or colors on the opposite page) instead of attaching them to a card base. Or I make them into a card and give them to my husband, who saves every one, so I can refer to them for designs.

  5. I would like to thank you for your generousity in sharing your incredible talent. Your artwork, whether it be in creating your journals or making greeting cards, is original and beautiful. I have never tried making a journal but this evening I watched your 4×4 Art Journal flip through and this may be the size of journal I could possibly ‘have a go’ at creating. You make everything sound like fun and you give one the feeling that nothing is impossible! I think you are wonderful!

  6. another wonderful video and project! thanks so much for sharing your talent and ideas, as well as your process. I look forward to your work every day!

  7. You are such an inspiration………..might have to create a small journal for myself. I have lots of patterned paper, stamps and inks, but none of those pre-printed picture books…………..hmmmmmmmm better look into using my Cameo diecut machine and figure out what to use for covers and a way to put it all together. Wish I had one of those machines with the coils………..CINCH I think it is called. OH VICKY……….you got me all excited with this small journal idea………what to do……..what to do?????? LOL

  8. Vickie – thanks again for making my day. Loved watching you recreate the art journal pages. Marlene’s products are perfect for something like this. And how wonderful that there is you to make magic with them.

  9. Ok order into joggles……excellent prices…Arabian nights here I come.
