Today I am sharing a quick an easy way to create mini slimline cards and use up those 6×6 paper pads you have been hoarding. If you fold a 6×6 patterned paper into half you end up with a mini slimline card base. Then follow my tips to bring together cards in no time using any stamp set you have in your stash. Today I demonstrate my examples using the latest products by Altenew so you can see them in action too.

When using subtle backgrounds:

  • pick colors from the background to use on your focal points, to help everything come together

Here is an example where I used greys and light browns for the TV, trying to match the circles at the patterned paper

Here is one more example where I used pink for the wheels to match the background color

When using busy backgrounds:

  • keep your focal point black and white to help it pop

Here is an example where I have both the flower as well as the sentiment in black and white.

Here is one more example using a busy patterned paper where my focal point in plain white and the sentiment plain black

And here is one more example where I kept the focal point monochromatic jus tto so you that you can work with some color… adding a color that I picked from the background in the focal point did the trick here. I did’t even bother to color it completly and made sure I have imperfections for a more artistic look. It’s one of those “embrace imperfections” cards that I love so much!

When using backgrounds with no color:

These are the easiest patterned papers to work with, when they are grey or black and white. No color on the background means you can go wild on your focal points. Anything works here and in my next two examples I went with flowers
