art journal flowers

Happy Friday my crafty friends! Today I have one more art journal layout to share using lots of fun mixed media techniques. Two art journals in one week?! Well I promised I will be sharing more of those this year. If you haven’t seen the art journal layout I posted on Monday check it out here.

A colorful and happy art journal layout using lots of my favorite techniques. I worked on my Dylusions Creative Journal ( SBC | SSS ) and I did the background coloring using only two colors of  Dylusions Paint – Vibrant Turquoise ( SBC | SSS ) and Fresh Lime( SBC | SSS ).

I applied the color with a fun technique that you will see demonstrated in the video, using  Cut-N-Dry Foam ( SBC | SSS ). For coloring and shading my focal points I used my Faber-Castell STAMPER’S BIG BRUSH Pitt Artist Pens ( SSS )

For the background I did lot’s of fun techniques including some stencling, some splashing and stamping with a great new stamp by Stampendous –  Mixed Mesh( SBC ). This is a big 6×6 background stamp with lot’s of different designs. It gives visual texture on your project.

Now these gorgeous flower stamps have just been released by Stampendous – Coneflower( SBC | SSS ). It’s a set of stamps that has masks/stencils included! You can also get the matching dies if you don’t want to use scissors to cut them out… a great bonus? Stampendous matching dies do not leave a border around the image. They cut exactly where the black lines are!

And how about the adorable hummingbird?! This is again a stamp by Stampendous from a precious release Hummingbird Blossom ( SBC | SSS ). I had if for months and I am so happy I got to use it finally.

For the quote I used one of the sentiments available in Paper Artsy ZINSKI ZA08 stamp( SSS ). This is a stamp set with lots of fun flower quote.

  1. Oh, Vicky, it is beautiful! I enjoyed learning a new technique today while watching your video. You are such a skilled teacher who obviously loves what she does. I certainly appreciated your choices of such vibrant colors on this very cold winter day! Thank you for sharing another layout…I am guessing someone missed her studio while she was away!

  2. Two journal pages in one week! THANK YOU!!! This is beautiful as always. I love the colors in the background. I forget how vibrant dylusion inks are!

  4. Another gorgeous creation! Beautifully done! I never did art journaling before I found you. I’ve been making your journaling pages now for about a year. Thank you so much. I get excited each time you show a new one.

  5. Beautiful, Vicky! I have my empty journal on a shelf and have not had the courage to start yet! But every time I see you do your “thang”….my heart just flutters. I want to do it so badly! lol… Maybe this is the year! :). Thanks for sharing.

  6. I love the way you do your backgrounds!! I appreciate all (so many!) the tips you give in your videos. This is the first time (I remember) watching you use your Pitt Pens to blend and do a lot of coloring. I learned so much from this video. I love the Dr. Seuss inspired flowers and humming birds (my favorite) hold a special place in my heart! (LOVE Dr. Seuss!) I’m working on my first serious mixed media canvas. It’s coming along slowly, but I’m having some fun with it and, also, at times, feeling frustrated because I’m WAY outside of my comfort zone. Learning new things and growing as an artist. Thank you for the encouragement to keep going and trying new things. Can’t wait to try your technique to make birch trees!!!

  7. Vicki, thanks for listening to us who requested more journal art!!! As always it turned out wonderful and bright and cheery. Love your videos, but special love for the art journal ones!!

  8. I recently acquired a hummingbird stamp and I am so inspired after watching your video. Awesome as always!!!
