mixed media pebeo fantasy paints

Today I am back with an art journal page using Pebeo Fantasy paints. These have been in the market for a few years and I was lucky to play with them while I was at Creativation 2019. They are so much fun to watch react and really easy to use. They usually work with them on canvases or non porous surfaces but I wanted to make them work on paper for my art journal.

And guess what?!

They work great over gesso and here is what I came up with! I am totally in love with this page and it was so much fun to create.

Watch the video tutorial for lots of details on the properties of the paints I used as well as for the step by step tutorial on this page. The effects those paints do when they react are so pretty and you get great art journal backgrounds with no real effort.

To add texture on my background I even sprinkled some glitter and some white chunky embossing powder while the paint was still wet. For embellishing my page I went with a little fishing net, an anchor and a chip quote. I made sure that I didn’t cover too much of my background as I want this to be the focal point on this page.

  1. WOW! WOW! WOW!!!! I don’t know what else to say except … WOW! THAT is so beautiful!!! In my next life I want to come back as a paper crafter who is also a millionaire (so I can buy all the products I want to play with … and a big house to store it all)!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful project and I can’t wait to see what else you do with those paints. I would be interested to see how you do the same design on a canvas if you decide to do a video of your process. I so appreciate your talent and your willingness to share it. Thank you, Vicky. Happy Spring to you, your family (including, of course, the magnificent Ginger!), loved ones and all in Greece. Your video got me thinking … I wonder if I add gesso to watercolor paper if then I could use alcohol inks on top (since it would be a non-porous surface). Must give it a try and see what happens. Hmmmmm!
