Welcome to another mixed media Tuesday. Today I am sharing an easy recipe for beginners to create similar art journal pages. Wanna try it?! First of all work on a page from my ring journal, it is perfect for these techniques, the size isn’t too large to overwhelm you plus there is already something sabtle printed in each page to get you started.
7 steps recipe
- use 2 colors of dye inks and blend them at the background
- add splatters
- use a stencil (with paste or blend ink)
- background stamping
- create focal point by combining ephemera, rub-ons, cut outs
- add highlights and white splashes
- add your quote

For today’s layout I tried to combine as many products from my new collection as I could. The collection is “Create Happiness 2” and includes stamps, stencils, ephemera, rub-ons and even acrylic paints.
I also made sure to use my dye inks for tons of techniques and you can see them used in this layout for adding color to the background, to creating splashes, to stamping, to creating borders even for stencling.
The ephemeta pack comes packed with flowers, leaves, butterflies, keys and even bigger elements that make the perfect focal points. Keep in mind that they work great for cards or scrapbooking too!
I also did lot’s of stamping not only to create some visual texture on the background but also to create one of my focal points, the film strip.
