Another Halloween card today, this time using the Haunted house die by  Sizzix and Tim Holtz.

I hope you can see all the texture I got on the haunted house by embossing it with black glittery embossing powder! A great way to add something extra on an otherwise flat black cardstock. It really helps the haunted house stand against the dark background.

For my night sky I decided to use good old distress inks instead of the oxides. Guess what? After getting used to the oxides it seemed like a labor to blend ink in such a big area! You can tell how I love my oxides!!!

For the windows I used vellum, that give one more texture to the card and that beautiful glow as if the haunted house is actually light up !

  1. I love the haunted house with its glowing windows and the sliver of gold moon. I don’t own Distress oxides (yet), but I can tell they blend easier. I have added the Nuvo gluee to my wish list. So tired of unclogging my fine-tip applicator.

  2. As usual, WOW! I really love your creation. Great idea for the haunted house as the embossing powder really does give it some oomph! Can’t hardly wait for the Trick or Treat card! Thanks again for the wonderful video, I know that creating a finished video takes longer than the actual time we see so I appreciate all your work!

  3. Love both the cards…the witch and the haunted house. I really liked the texture and sparkle of the embossing powder on the haunted house. What a great idea! That also goes for using the velum and markers for the windows. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. I love all the attention to little details. I agree that is what makes the difference in an ok card/piece of art and an extraordinary one.
    Loved the background music!

  4. Oh my goodness Vicky I love the sparkle on the house and moon. The coloured vellum for light in the windows looks amazing….Super spooky!

  5. Great card, love the way the Haunted House stands out because of the glitter embossing and the light behind it. Thanks for the inspiration.

  6. I love this card and the witch card too! I did order the witch but now wish I had also gotten the house and the trick or treaters!! Thanks so much for your inspiring videos!

  7. Hello Vicky!
Really love both cards! The sparkle and your attention to detail absolutely makes the cards something very special!
Thank you so much for sharing your talent, and YES! indeed, I am very inspired by what you do. Because of you I have started using gel mediums, paints, gelatos, stencils, whipped spackle and I now have my own Faber Castell Big Brush Markers! I’m so inspired again to create!!!!
Thank You and please keep posting!

  8. Love this card! What is the mixed media paper you are using that didn’t warp when you melted the embossing powder on to that little moon?

  9. I’m catching up on my viewing this morning while enjoying my coffee and had to let you know what a fabulous card this is! Halloween in the U.S. is becoming more and more glitzy and your haunted house card certainly reflects that. Vicky your choices of the glitter embossing powder as well as the colored vellum were spot on to make this card a one of a kind. I am loving this “series” of cards you are making with the Tim Holtz dies!
