Today I am back with my Trick or Treat card! Just like I promised I am sharing the third card of this mini Halloween card series featuring dies by Tim Holtz for Sizzix. The”trick or treat” die is just adorable with all those kids standing in a row and there is a cat too… so I can’t resist!
Since this is the third one for my set I wanted to make it match the other two, using pretty much the same techniques but in different colors so they are similar but not the same. I used my distress oxide inks for the background. And being brave I mixed orange with purple. This is a no-go for the color theory but it works with oxide inks. That ink is formulated in such a way that the colors stay on top of each other and they don’t completely blend to end up into mud.
For the sentiment I combined 3 different colors of cardstock in the classic Halloween colors, green, purple and orange. I mixed and matched the words for a multicolored effect.

This one is my favorite from the set!Looks really cool!
I love all three cards. They are sooo beautiful.
I´ve been thinking about buying the last die that you have used. I think it´s so cute.
What do you think about using it for an other occations and not just Halloween?

BOOtiful cards – you really caught the fun of this holiday even if you haven’t participated in this fun in your country. The excitement is magical – to dress up anyway you want – I usually wanted to wear lipstick, jewelry and a long dress. Our neighborhood had over a hundred kids and we walked up and down the street at night, trick or treating and usually got homemade treats but that was so many years ago and when we knew all the homeowners. Things do change!
Oh we do have the carnival, pretty much the same thing only we get to dress anything we like and not just scary costumes! I have also been in Halloween celebrations while I was anroad and my kids even went trick or treat!!! Fun !
Hi Vicky – you always seem to get the culture and intent of our holidays and other US- phenomena including our slang, without living here. Your work is beautiful and these cards are no exception. Looking forward to another art journal post, too.
Love everything you do. Loved Greece when I was there this summer, and you are as warm and personable as the people we met during our visit. Keep on being the inspiration you are.
Wow, again! I love all of the three cards! I wish the trick or treat sentiment had come inn the Haunted House package (which I bought), because I love the technique you used on it. Great inspiration for the moon I have often added a swipe of Black Soot across the moon, to create wispy clouds, but I love the yellow spots technique better! Thanks again for sharing your creations and your time.
Another awesome card. Waiting for my dies to come in. You have inspired me. Thanks for sharing.
What “no go” for the orange and purple, its gorgeous! And don’t forget in nature you can find every colour side by side they have no color theory (LOL).
I love all your Halloween cards and I find it very diffecult to choose one but if I have to, I choose the first one, the Witch. Thanks for showing us all your beautiful cards.
Love your Halloween set and the three fun videos.
So cute! I love it. I especially love how you do the moon. The little splashes of yellow just really add something spectacular to it. Thanks again, so much, for sharing. ???

When I first saw these dies I thought it would be hard to come up with ideas for cards and they would take a lot of work. But after seeing your fabulous cards I have changed my mind! I think that I need to make a trip to my local scrapbook store and see if they have any of these dies left. Thanks for the inspiration Vicky!
