Hi! Today I am sharing the process of creating a midori style hard cover, to hold two of my mini art journals. In the video I also flip through them so you can see all the layouts.

close-up photos

Here are some close-up photos on the midori style hard cover.

I used ribbon to keep it closed but you can use elastic, create a flap with magnets and there are so many other options.

Here is how the spine looks on the outside, nice and neat

I went with wide eyelets since I love the look but small ones would work too.

  1. WOW!!! Outstanding once again. Thank you for showing us how to bind the books together. Loved the flip through too – I never miss a video!

  2. Totally loved the flip-trough your fabulous mini journals, so many awesome pages and so much inspiration.
Your cover is stunning and look so simple to make, so glad you did a video of that. I have wondered more than ones when I visited the site of Craftelier how these tools where used, thank you for showing.
Thank you so much for sharing, stay safe and have a wonderful day.

  3. Thank you for flipping through the journals and the excellent way that you showed how to make the cover Well done, as usual!!!

  4. Really enjoyed the flip through and seeing your wonderful and beautiful pages! Your storage idea for the journals is brilliant and I loved seeing a new — to me — creative idea!! Love how you kept it clean and simple and the use of fabric instead of paper is a big reminder to me to use up some scrap fabric in my paper crafting!! What a beautiful book! I can see how those tools would be helpful and could be used to make any kind of book/album. Hmmmm!!! A new craft idea/area to get into???!!!!! Looks like so much fun and the front could be decorated with as much dimension as I like. The ideas are popping!! I missed seeing your video when it went up yesterday because I was volunteering for the day at a local election center helping people to vote in an election and wasn’t permitted to use my phone. There were times during the day when I thought about your video sitting there waiting for me to see but by the time I got home it was late and I was totally exhausted. The good news: I had something special to look forward to this morning as I recover from a long day yesterday. Thank you so much for the video, Vicky, and for the new craft idea!

  5. Quick question on the book binder tools: does the kit come with instructions on how to use it? I can’t find any mention of that on the website. Thank you in advance!!
