sizzix witch

BOO! Today I am sharing a Halloween card using the Witch die by Sizzix . It was designed by Tim Holtz along with many more dies for Halloween that I will be featuring in my upcoming videos.

I love the witch with all that detail but you have to check out her cat! Hilarious!

In the video I am going to show you how I made that glowing moon and how you can easily recreate something similar. It’s the perfect background for any Halloween scene.

I used distress oxide inks for the background on watercolor paper. I am also sharing a technique with those inks and paper stumps to add highlights on your black cut outs. For the sentiment I just used stickers from a Tim Holtz booklet but you can also go ahead and stick alphabet letters, spelling “BOO” or anything else you have on hand. It would look amazing without a sentiment too!

  1. Beautiful Card Vicky!! šŸ™‚ I’d love to see the haunted house die into action ! I was wondering about the dies can they be combined with each other to create a scene?

  2. This card is sensational! Love the way you created the background for this card and, you’re right, that cat is hilarious (my little cat would be scared to death of this one!) One question, I’m finding there are many different qualities of watercolor papers in the market which provide different results. What brand of watercolor paper did you use for this project? Thanks for sharing!

  3. What a beautiful card Vicky and your use of the scrap piece of paper for the ground was brilliant. I hope you use the haunted house die for your next project…can’t wait to see what you will do with it!!

  4. I LOVE this card! The background is great! I would like to see the haunted house die used next and I liked the idea of an art journal page. That would be so fantastic.

  5. Fun card and video. I vote for a card with the Haunted House die next.
I want to try the Nuvo glue because, even with a fine tip applicator, my matte medium clogs.

  6. Hai Vicky, I enjoyed your video very much. Love the Tim Holtz dies, you have made a creepy fun card. Love the technique you showt with the Distress Oxides to make highlight from the moon. Thanks for this inspiring video.

  7. This is such a cute card. It would make a perfect birthday/Halloween card for my sister as she was born that day, unfortunately for her, Mom named her Wanda…. (for REAL!)

  8. Really enjoyed your video, Vicky. The witch is such a fun character and I live how you put the scene together against such a great background. I’d love to see you create a card with the haunted house. Thank you for all your great videos. They ate very inspiring and great tutorials too

  9. Love the music at the end of this video!!!! What fun! Thanks for the video and the tip about the “ground” the witch is on and how to make the silhouettes glow from the moon. Thanks, Vicky!

  10. Wonderful! We do celebrate Halloween here, but cards aren’t given out, unless someone’s birthday falls on, or near, that day. This is such a great way to celebrate the Holiday, I wish more people used them. Thank you so much for making such a spectacular card. I would be happy to see any other die you use to do. It’s always such a treat to watch you create. ???

  11. Awesome card, as always, Vicky! Love all the black with the hints of color, and the way you grounded the witch! I would like to see you use the kids/trick or treat die. And I second the motion for a future halloween art journal page!!!
    Thanks for your ongoing inspiration!
