moroccan mosaic card

Today I have a fun Moroccan mosaic card. A really fun card using products from the latest Altenew release.

I used the Moroccan Mosaic Stamp Set( ALTN | SSS ) ans stamped the background with black ink. Then you can fill in the design with your favorite coloring medium. The sky is the limit here, use pencils, watercolors, alcohol markers …. you can even emboss the design! I went with stamping, as in the same set there are little stamps that you can use to fill in the pattern.

You can use so many different color combinations and every card will look completely different. Here are a few color combos to inspire you! Just go online and look for Moroccan color palettes! So much fun!

I went with shades of blue from the Glacier Caves Oval Set ( ALTN | SSS ) and I added some yellow at the end. I used the Moroccan Mosaic Cover Die ( ALTN | SSS ) to cut out a panel and it layers beautifully on top of the stamped image. This way I introduce some white on my palette and some dimension at the same time. Notice how I adhered the cut out a little bit offset to get a shading from the black stamped lines.

I didn’t want to cover my beautiful background with any other stamp as a focal point so I went with a simple “hugs” die cut as a sentiment. It comes from the Script Words Die Set ( ALTN | SSS ), which is a set I go back to again and again.

  1. I was so sure you cut all those tiny pieces and glued them in! What a fun and easy way to get the look of intricate paper piecing.
